From 26 to 28 December 1896, the Conference of Great Religions took place in Lahore, and was proposed by some Hindu notables, who had invited Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) and the leaders of several other religions to lecture on the qualities of their own religious faith.

Due to the importance of this Conference, Jalsa Salana Qadian of 1896 was postponed.
