Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra) married Hazrat Syeda Maryam Begum on 7 February 1924. A boy was born to them on 18 December 1928 who was named Tahir Ahmad.

Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad (rh) was elected as the fourth successor of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) on 10 June 1982 and during his era, Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyyat, due to persecution, migrated from Pakistan to England.

During his era of Khilafat, Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya faced a new and heightened level of state-led persecution, after the promulgation of the Ordinance XX of 1984 by Ziaul Haq. The level of persecution grew so much that it became nearly impossible for Huzoor (rh) to execute his duties as a Khalifa. He then decided to migrate to the United Kingdom. He landed in the UK on 30 April 1984 and established the new headquarters of Jamaat in London. This was another blessing of Allah to give Jamaat an open playing field to preach the true and pristine teachings of Islam to the rest of the world.

Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad (rh), Khalifatul Masih IV, established the Muslim Television Ahmadiyya (MTA) in 1992, which is greatly serving as a great means for spreading the true teachings of Islam around the World.

He passed away on 19 April 2003.
