Maulvi Nazeer Hussain of Delhi was born 1805 in Monghyr, Bihar district. He was the son of Syed Jawad Ali. He was very active during his childhood. He enjoyed swimming, running and horse riding.

In 1868, he, together with Siddiq Hasan Khan of Bhopal and Muhammad Hussain Batalvi, formally founded Jamaat Ahl-e Hadith.

The first edict of kufr (disbelief) against Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) was laid forth by him and Muhammad Husain Batalvi. In response, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) invited him for a debate, but he never turned up.

Maulvi Nazeer Hussain of Delhi died on 13 October 1902. Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) stated on the news of his death:

“A person passed away in utter confusion, in the state of erring”.
