Hazrat Maulvi Hafiz Obaidullah was a missionary of Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya in Mauritius. He devoted his life at the age of 17 or 18. He became ill in Mauritius and passed away there due to tuberculosis.

While mentioning his demise, Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra), stated:

“He has fulfilled his pledge with great patience and steadfastness, which he made for dedicating his life for the religion [...] So, he is deserving of our gratitude and praise, and it is our duty to praise him [...] I say by trusting God’s grace, that he has become the recipient of God’s praise [...] Obaidullah is the first Indian [Ahmadi], who has become a martyr. Although we are grieved that we have lost a pious and pure soul from us who was busy in serving the religion of God, day and night, but at the same time we are proud of his demise [martyrdom].” (Friday Sermon, 7 December 1923, Khutbat-e-Mahmud, Vol. 8, pp. 260-263)
