On 1 October 1950, an Ahmadi, Maulvi Nur Din along with seven other Ahmadis went on a preaching campaign in Chak No. 5. The non-Ahmadi Muslims surrounded the Ahmadis, and treated them very badly. When the incident was reported to the police, a person, namely Fazl Ilahi was arrested. The non-Ahmadi Muslims protested against the arrest and held a convention to incite people against Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya. After listening to the speeches at the convention, a man named Muhammad Ashraf, armed with a knife, martyred Master Ghulam Muhammad.
