Khawaja Ghulam Nabi Bilanvi was born in December 1894. In 1911, he passed the Vernacular Middle Examination and on 11 June of the same year he visited Qadian, and began to learn the art of essay writing from some of the elders, including Hazrat Hakim Maulvi Nuruddin (ra), Khalifatul Masih I, and Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra). 

First of all, he got the opportunity to work in the office of Tash-heez-ul-Azhan, and then his articles started appearing in various magazines. 

At the beginning of the second Khilafat, he was employed in Al Fazl, then a few days later, he was assigned the duty of taking notes of the lessons of Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra), Khalifatul Masih II. 

Upon seeing his notes, Huzoor (ra) instructed him to write detailed notes of Dars-ul-Quran. Those notes began to be published in Al Fazl. He published the notes of Surah an-Nur in book form, titled Haqaiq-ul-Quran. 

He was also responsible for scribing Huzoor's Friday sermons and speeches, and Huzoor (ra) praised his work many times. 

In July 1916, he was appointed as the editor of Al Fazl. He retired in 1946 after serving as the editor of Al Fazl for 30 years.

He passed away on 18 April 1956.

In his Friday Sermon, Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra) praised him for his services. He stated that during the days when he (Huzoor) was the editor of Al Fazl, Khawaja Ghulam Nabi served as the assistant editor, and although he was not highly educated, he was very intelligent and clever.

While mentioning his services in preserving Huzoor's sermons and speeches, Huzoor (ra) stated that Khawaja Ghulam Nabi had rendered a great favour to the Jamaat, and should always be remembered in prayers. 

Khawaja Ghulam Nabi wrote five books, including his autobiography. 
He got married twice and Allah the Almighty blessed him with 9 sons and 6 daughters.
