Hazrat Munshi Gulab Din Rohtasi (ra) was a companion of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), the Promised Messiah.
He was a resident of Rohtas, District Jhelum. He was a school teacher and a well-known poet as well.
His Qaseedah has been mentioned by Hazrat Ahmad (as), in his book Siraj-e-Munir. (Siraj-e-Munir, Ruhani Khazain, Vol. 12, pp. 84-85)
Hazrat Munshi Gulab Din Rohtasi (ra) was a Shiite before accepting Ahmadiyyat in 1892, and was a well-known speaker and preacher in the area.
When Hazrat Maulvi Burhanuddin Jhelumi (ra) returned to Jhelum after meeting with Hazrat Ahmad (as) in Qadian and Hoshiarpur, he had a discussion with Hazrat Munshi Gulab Din Rohtasi (ra), about Hazrat Ahmad (as). Hazrat Maulvi Burhanuddin Jhelumi (ra) advised him to visit Qadian.
Therefore, Hazrat Munshi Gulab Din Rohtasi (ra) visited Qadian along with his close relative, Malik Ghulam Hussain. They met with Hazrat Ahmad (as) while he was returning from a walk. After that, they returned to Jhelum.
After some time, he pledged allegiance to Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) through a letter. Hazrat Ahmad (as) accepted his Bai'at on 8 September 1892, and his name is mentioned in the Bai'at Register at number 353. He then visited Qadian again and attended the Jalsa Salana as well.
Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) has mentioned his name in Aina-e-Kamalat-e-Islam, amongst the attendees of Jalsa Salana, at number 42. Moreover, Huzoor (as) mentioned his name in Anjam-e-Atham amongst his 313 companions at number 34.
Hazrat Munshi Gulab Din Rohtasi (ra) also established the first middle school for boys in Rohtas.
He passed away on 23 November 1920 and was buried outside Qila Rohtas, near Darwaza Khwas. His funeral prayer was led by Hazrat Maulvi Abdul Mughni (ra). He was a Musi, and a memorial gravestone is present in Bahishti Maqbarah Qadian, in Qita Number 1, Part Number 4.
