In 1894, Hazrat Master Qadir Bakhsh (ra) had a son who was named Rahim Bakhsh.

Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih II, changed his name from Rahim Bakhsh to Abdur Rahim and gave him the takhallus of "Dard".

Hazrat Maulvi Abdur Rahim Dard (ra) received his early education in Ludhiana. As a child, his health was weak, but with the prayers of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), he recovered. 

In 1914, he got his B.A. degree from Lahore. After that, he was employed at the Mission School Hoshiarpur. 

He passed M.A. in Arabic from Islamia College Lahore in 1916. In 1919, he devoted his life to the service of Islam Ahmadiyyat. He was appointed as a member of the committee which was to prepare a scheme for the development of Madrasa-e-Ahmadiyya.

In 1920, he was appointed as the Officer of the Correspondence department, which was later renamed to "Private Secretariat".

In 1924, he was fortunate to accompany Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra), during the tour of Europe.

On 19 October 1924, he delivered a short address to the dignitaries present at the foundation laying ceremony of the Fazl Mosque in London. 

In November 1924, Huzoor (ra) appointed Hazrat Maulvi Abdur Rahim Dard (ra) as the Incharge of the London Mission in place of Hazrat Maulvi Abdur Rahim Nayyar (ra). 

After his appointment as the Incharge of the London Mission, The Review of Religions started publishing from London instead of Qadian, and a weekly newspaper The Muslim Times was also launched under his editorship.

Under his supervision, the construction of the Fazl Mosque was completed and it was inaugurated by Sir Abdul Qadir. 

Hazrat Maulvi Abdur Rahim Dard (ra) served as the first Imam of the Fazl Mosque. 

He also visited some European countries for preaching Islam Ahmadiyyat, and when he returned to Qadian on 22 October 1928, Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra), Khalifatul Masih II, went three miles outside Qadian and received him. 

On 25 July 1931, when the All India Kashmir Committee was established, Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra) was elected as the president of the Committee, and Hazrat Maulvi Abdur Rahim Dard (ra) was appointed its secretary. 

Upon Huzoor's instructions, Hazrat Maulvi Abdur Rahim Dard (ra) met several officials and several delegations were sent under his leadership. 

On 2 February 1933, he left Qadian for England. One of the important tasks given to him by Huzoor (ra) was to persuade Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to return to India and guide the Muslims in Indian politics.

On 8 November 1938, Hazrat Maulvi Abdur Rahim Dard (ra) returned to Qadian and served as Nazir Talim-o-Tarbiyyat and Nazir Dawat-o-Tabligh. Moreover, he was the secretary of the committee formed for the Khilafat Jubilee Jalsa.

During the Jalsa of Hoshiarpur, he read out the words of the Peshgoie Musleh-e-Maud (Prophecy about the Promised Reformer).

During the partition of India in 1947, Hazrat Maulvi Abdur Rahim Dard (ra) played an important role in contacting the authorities of both countries, for the safe evacuation of Muslims from Qadian.

After the establishment of Pakistan, he served as the Nazir Umur-e-Ama and Kharija, and Nazir Talim-o-Tarbiyyat.

He passed away on 7 December 1955. The next day, Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra), Khalifatul Masih II, offered the funeral prayer and the burial took place.
