Hazrat Syeda Nusrat Jehan Begum (ra) was born in 1865 and belonged to a very noble family situated in Delhi, who were the descendants of the Holy Prophet (sa). Her father was Hazrat Mir Nasir Nawab (ra) and her mother was Hazrat Syeda Begum (ra).

Hazrat Nusrat Jehan Begum (ra) got married to Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) in November 1884, Delhi. She bears the title Hazrat Amma Jaan amongst the community as a show of affection. This name translates to 'dear mother', indicating that she was the spiritual mother of the community.

Hazrat Amma Jan (ra) was blessed with 10 children. 5 of them died young and 5 lived on. She had 3 boys: Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra), Hazrat Mirza Bashir Ahmad (ra) and Hazrat Mirza Sharif Ahmad (ra) and 2 girls: Hazrat Nawab Mubaraka Begum (ra) and Hazrat Nawab Amatul Hafeez Begum (ra).

Hazrat Syeda Nusrat Jehan Begum (ra) passed away on 20 April 1952 at the age of 86.
