Towards the close of 1905, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) had a number of revelations that foretold about his demise. On October 18, he saw in a vision a new clay vessel containing some clear water at the bottom of it, and not more than two or three mouthfuls of water was left in it. This referred to the water of life.
The demise of a prophet in any Community is always more than an earthquake. Consoling the Community about his approaching end, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) said:
“It is always the way of God that He manifests His Glory twice. The first time when the prophet comes and then the second time it occurs when the prophet goes away from the scene. Just like the Holy Prophet (sa), when he joined his Creator, the Glory of God was manifested for the second time when Hazrat Abu Bakr took over.” (Al-Wasiyyat, p. 5, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 20, pp. 304-305)
His reference to Divine manifestation that occurs twice was clearly a glad tiding about the institution of a regular Khilafat in the movement. Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) said:
“That second manifestation cannot come till the time I go, and when I go, God will send the second Divine manifestation which will remain with you forever.” (Al-Wasiyyat, p. 6, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 20, p. 305)
This book foretold the establishment of Khilafat in the Ahmadiyya Muslims Jamaat and also the financial system by which true Ahmadis can safeguard their hereafter and be admitted to Heaven.
