Islam Ahmadiyyat was first introduced in Fiji Islands through Chaudhry Abdul Hakeem in 1925. He had moved to Fiji because of work and lived in Nadi, Fiji. He had kept in touch with the markaz (centre), acquiring literature to be given to his acquaintances. Although he was able to spread the message of Islam Ahmadiyyat, no the jamaat was still not established in Fiji at that time.

There were some people who belonged to the Anjuman Ishaat-e-Islam of Peghamis. When the Shuddhi movement was at its peak in Fiji Islands, it was these people who had stood in defence. However, many felt that they were lacking literature. Once they had acquired some books of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), the Promised Messiah, they quickly realised that his claim was not only of a Mujaddid, rather prophethood as well.

One of these Peghami Ahmadis, Muhammad Ramadhan travelled to Rabwah in search of truth. He accepted Islam Ahmadiyyat in 1959 and pledged allegiance to Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra), Khalifatul Masih II.

He also requested Huzoor (ra) to send a missionary to Fiji, and on his return to Fiji, he started preaching the message of Islam Ahmadiyyat.

On 11 October 1960, Sheikh Abdul Wahid was sent to Fiji Islands, as the first missionary. In the coming years, apart from Nadi, many different missions were established in Fiji. In Maro, Lautoka and Suva just to mention a few.

The first Jalsa Salana of Fiji was held in December 1962, and then in 1963, the first mosque, namely Fazl-e-Omar Mosque was built.
