Anticipating the challenges which the next century was likely to pose and in order to hasten the spiritual revolution which Aḥmadiyyat has been divinely commissioned to bring about, Ḥaḍrat Khalīfatul Masīḥ IV, under divine guidance initiated on 3rd April 1987 the blessed Scheme of Waqf Nau. Members of the Jamā‘at were invited to dedicate their children before their birth for the service of Islām. The Jamā‘at responded to the call of Ḥaḍrat Khalīfatul Masīḥ IV with fervour. In the beginning the Taḥrīk was for two years only and the target was 5000 Wāqifīn Nau but afterwards Ḥaḍrat Khalīfatul Masīḥ IV extended it to five years and the target was increased to 15000 Wāqifīn Nau. The original target of 5000 and later of 15000 were both surpassed. Later Ḥaḍrat Khalīfatul Masīḥ IV graciously lifted the five-year time bar. Parents are now allowed to dedicate their children for all times to come. Initially Wakālat Dīwān looked after Waqf Nau. An independent Wakālat named ‘Wakālat Waqf Nau’ was created in 1992 to look after this scheme.
Five Friday sermons delivered by Ḥaḍrat Khalīfatul Masīḥ IV on 3rd April 1987; 10th February 1989; 17th February 1989; 8th September 1989 and 1st December 1989 cover the details of the scheme.
Keeping in view all the instructions of Khulafā’ given in Friday sermons, addresses, directives etc. and the instructions which Khulafā’ may like to give in future, this Wakālat shall make the aims and objects of Waqf Nau scheme known to the Jamā‘at.
As far as Wāqifāt Nau (i.e. the girls) are concerned the secretary Waqf Nau shall chalk out the required programme for them viz. teaching the prescribed syllabus, holding classes and holding separate Ijtimā‘ when necessary. These programmes shall be implemented by Lajna Imāillāh at the local and the national level. The Lajna shall submit, as required, the implementation reports of these programmes to secretary Waqf Nau both at the local and national level.
